Beah was always a happy child, who loved family and rap music. when the war begun Beah was very young. but he was forced to grow up to survive, he didn't have anyone to protect him. his family was no where to be found the only thing he had was his brother who he was very close to. So he didn't have any other choice but to fight. he joined the army to help protect the village. he lost all his innocence
but for anyone I'm should this would have been a very hard time for them not just Beah, if it was me i would be forced to grow up also not having anyone really to turn to etc..
but he became cold hearted not caring, he killed a rebel without a care. murdered some kids his age and took there food. at this point it seems like he feels like he haves nothing to live for. his family is gone and hes in a living hell blood bath. he started using Drugs. everything had went down hill. the elders were scared of kids"a 12 year old couldn't be trusted".there wasn't anymore respect it was more so every man for himself. this is like the holocaust, people were taking away from there family's beating, killed, its a sad thing to go though
and when i read this book that's the picture i get while reading. Beah isn't the same person he use to be
i wonder will he ever.

  1. In terms of a general explanation of Beah's transformation, you do a fair job. There are some good specifics. Work on using more quotes, and cite page numbers, too, to help guide your argument.

That said, there is a good comparison to the Holocaust. And a good starting point for discussing the psychological effects of war.
